DX 2517 Technical Update

Two months after we began shipping these radios, one of our distributors called to tell us about this unusual problem:

  •  SYMPTOM -- Receive audio goes off when the Noise Filter and Roger Beep are both switched on.
  •  PROBLEM -- 8 volts for the Noise Filter board is provided by the switching board (EPT0SSB80A). The 8 volts should come from a constant source but instead is switched on and off by the Roger Beep.
  •  SOLUTION -- Our technician has come up with an easy way to correct this problem. Cut the red wire next to CN13 located on the switching board. (See picture labeled "INCORRECT") Strip and solder this wire to resistor R90 which is located on the corner of the main board closest to the switching board. The lead closest to the switching board is a constant 8 volt source. (See picture labeled "CORRECT")

The problem has been corrected at the factory so that the next shipment will work properly, and on those radios, the red wire will not need to be moved. Our technicians are making the above modification to the radios which are currently in our warehouse -- because of this, the cartons will no longer look "factory sealed", but the correction made will be noted on the box, and naturally the full two year warranty still applies. We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we work to rectify the situation.
